TOWN ORGANIZATIONS
4-H CLUB: TABOR PIONEERS – Ben Kotalik
Comprised of young people from the age of 6 to 18 promoting the development of the young people. Meetings are held monthly.
ALTAR AND ROSARY SOCIETY – Rhonda Kocer, President
Comprised of ladies of St. Wenceslaus Parish, furnishing decorations for the altar in church and also serving for funerals and weddings and other community functions. Meetings are held January, April, August, October, and December.
AMBULANCE DEPARTMENT – Laverne and Kathleen Schieffer
Comprised of volunteers that are professionally trained to transport individuals to a medical facility when needed 24/7. Monthly education and meeting on the third Tuesday of the month. Volunteers are welcomed to join.
AMERICAN LEGION – Alvin Sternhagen
Comprised of veterans who have served our country. The meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY – Jean Hunhoff
Comprised of women who have had family members serve our country. The meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month, except summer.
BASEBALL ADULT TOWN TEAM – Chris Sutera, Team Manager
TABOR BLUEBIRDS comprised of adults over the age of 18 playing amateur baseball in South Dakota. Season starts in May and concludes in August.
BASEBALL-LEGION – Gary Kortan
Comprised of young men between the ages of 16 and 18 and is played in Tabor. Season starts in May and concludes in August.
BASEBALL-TEENER – Sponsored by Tyndall VFW
Comprised of young men between the ages of 12 and 16 and is played in Tyndall. Season starts in May and concludes in August.
BASEBALL-MIDGETS, PEE WEES, AND WEE PEES – Tabor Chamber of Commerce
Comprised of boys between the ages of 6 and 12. Season starts in May and concludes in July.
BESEDA CLUB – Heather Kubal
Comprised of members who dance the “BESEDA”, national folk dance of the Czech Republic. Over 200 members. Meetings are once a year.
BESEDA HALL, INC. – Tom Kronaizl, President
Can be rented by anyone for receptions, anniversaries, dances, any type of social events. Bookings can be made by contacting Mark Povondra, 605-661-2737
FCSLA Life W093 – Terry Sestak, President
Comprised of individuals who have purchased life, insurance, IRA’s and annuities. Social memberships are also available. Meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month in Beseda Hall, Inc.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – Amy Beran, President
Comprised of individuals and businesses promoting the betterment of the community. Meetings are held the fourth Monday of each month (except July, August, November and December). Any individual is welcome to join. You do not need to own a business to belong. Dues are $5 for individuals and $25 for businesses. The chamber is responsible for the youth activities and many community activities.
CZECH HERITAGE PRESERVATION SOCIETY
Comprised of individuals promoting the Czech heritage of the community. Activities are monthly.
FIRE DEPARTMENT Ken Carda, Fire Chief
Comprised of individuals who volunteer to preserve the town and surrounding community from destruction by fire. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month. New volunteers are welcome.
SCHOOL BOARD BON HOMME SCHOOL DISTRICT 4-2 – 605-589-3388
Comprised of seven members elected to serve the educational needs of the students of the Springfield, Tabor, and Tyndall communities.
SENIOR CITIZENS – Comprised of adults aged 55 and above. Serve meals in the community center. Meetings and activities various times per month.
SOFTBALL GIRLS – Tabor Chamber of Commerce
SOUVENIR CENTER – Sherry Povondra
Many Czech souvenirs and local souvenirs available for sale. Open during Czech Days in the community center.
SWIMMING POOL – Katie Stutzman
A privately owned swimming pool owned by the shareholders. New shares may be purchased. Pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Red cross swimming lessons are given to anyone.
TABOR DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION – Jason Kokes, President
Comprised of individuals to bring forward ideas and projects to develop the community of Tabor focusing on housing, retail, beautification, and tourism. Meetings are held quarterly in January, April, August, and November or as called. Membership Dues are $10 per year.
